Find Your Flow: Do What Works, Not What's "Right"

There is no right way, only the way that works for you.

There is no "right way" to do things. Everyone is different. What works for him/her may not work for you. Just because mom does it that way, and taught you to do it this way, doesn't make it "right." It may be the most efficient way for her, or for most people, but if you don't enjoy the process then customize it so that you do enjoy it.

I used to do what I think I should do, as opposed to what works for my needs. With this paradigm, one is limited only to certain actions. It constrains creativity , resourcefulness, and self-expression. Plus, a person may continue doing what they think is "right" and not get the results they want, then they suffer - "I did everything right! What gives?!"

Here's an exaggerated example: one of the common societal rules is to brush your teeth once in the morning and once at night (at least). It may be the case that this does not work for you, or maybe your set of teeth have evolved past the typical human's, and you don't even need to brush your teeth at all.

Point being, if you could achieve your desired results doing less work, less steps, or just done another way that works best for YOU, then do THAT. Vice versa, you may need to work harder or add a couple more steps to your process to achieve your goals.

Learn yourself, learn what works for you.

Learn From the Greats, Then Become One.

You're likely someone who's looking to be the best version of themselves. As such, you likely model your life after the most successful people in the world.

You say, "okay, if Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook founder and CEO) wears the same t-shirt everyday to save brain power, then surely I "should" do that too and it will lead to similar success." Try it, of course, and if it works: great, but if it doesn't: cut it out immediately!

Zucks does that because it works for HIM. He commits himself to what works for him and his mission, I imagine. In your case, it may be that you enjoy the process of choosing an outfit everyday. It feeds your soul. It's necessary for you. It WORKS for YOU.

Overhaul what doesn't work. Replace it with what does work.

Today, I encourage you to pick one area of life that hasn't been working, and try something that might work better instead! Be free from the constrain known as "the right way to do it" and discover the freedom of doing what works for you :)

No more making yourself wrong for waking up at 9am.

The "Post Content Everyday" Theory

"When you post content every day, someone way down the road IS going to come across your stuff. All it takes is ONE piece of content to make the difference for them.  JUST ONE." - Gabriel Santos

You're not posting for 1,000,000 views tomorrow. You're creating content to create an archive - a catalog of your works.

It's common to compare ourselves to our favorite content creators and think we need to post the type of quality content they do in order to make an impact - or gain a following. Creating these types of expectations on oneself can be paralyzing, effectively shutting down ANY possibility of generating the following and impact you know you're capable of.

With the "post content everyday" theory, it's not about posting perfect, 5 star quality content all the time (although that's "ideal"). It's about posting content, in whatever way is most natural and authentic, at whatever level of quality you choose, EVERY DAY - consistently.

Not every day for one month and then stop. Every day. Shitty content over no content. At least give the people a chance to judge you and hate on you, as well as the opportunity to love and support you.

If You Create It, Someone Will Consume It

There is an audience for everyone. Your videos may not attract 1,000,000 at first, it may never attract a million. But it will attract at least 1. And 1 become 2, becomes 100, becomes 1,000. However, the point is not about gaining numbers - per se.

The point is that without content, you won't gain an audience and your message will not reach anyone. And if you don't post consistently, well, you'll never gain the engagement and traction that a loyal audience is born from.

Consistency is A Leadership Quality, And Leadership is ATTRACTIVE

To create content is to lead. Like I said, there is at least one person who is at the perfect place and time in their life to receive your message.

There's something attractive about a person who creates on a consistent basis. Consistency is something people often yearn to embody, but have trouble sustaining. You're always at least one step ahead of someone in terms of growth, as well as one step behind.

The person who is one step behind you will find your content and gain value. And once they have tapped you out, don't be sad if they leave. Do not worry, another person who's ready to hear you, and the message that will impact their life in the way they're looking for, will come across and replace the person that has moved on.

As You Grow, So Do The People Who Follow You

Here's the thing: the more you grow, the more people you're able to impact. The reality is that many people do not grow at the rate they desire. To be someone that commits themselves to daily growth, and hence daily content creation, well, you'll be a shining beacon for those looking to walk the same, or similar path as you.

Here's an alternative perspective for you: It is an honor to create content every day! The ripple effect, although unseen at times, is undoubtedly in effect every time you post positive, inspiring content.

If "DAMN DANIEL!" Can Go Viral, Your Content can too - Just post every day

You have the power to impact the entire world with just your phone. That's not balogna, that's facts. The "DAMN DANIEL" video went viral and for 3 months everybody said that stupid f**king catch phrase - AND STILL DO.

If something as nonsensical, empty, and 1 star quality can catch fire and cause MILLIONS OF PEOPLE to say a damn phrase, then your videos CERTAINLY have the same potential.

Conclusion + Call to ACTION

Will you gain millions of dollars and subscribers over night, no. But who cares. Who cares about a million.

It's about PEOPLE. THEIR LIVES. And your ability to impact their life with your message, your content.

Stop this whole trying to get a million followers in one try, and commit to the marathon known as "posting content everyday."

What's funny...is that you'll likely reach a million subscribers one day too. But you won't...not unless you post content.

SO POST THAT "CRAPPY" BLOG, UPLOAD THAT "NOT GOOD ENOUGH" VIDEO. WHO-THE-HELL-CARES.

One day, a billionaire is going to search "how to make my six year old daughter happy." And if you had just made that damn video, it would have been you that the billionaire messaged personally and donated 1,000 to your channel - not the other person that was creating content everyday instead of you.

Five FREE Ways To Invest in Yourself - TODAY

Hello there! Glad to have you here. In this post, you will discover five FREE ways to invest in yourself - today! If you are already aware of these outlets for self-investment, please share in the comments which one is your most favorite way to invest in yourself!

Investing in oneself is a beautiful practice. As you grow as a person, your contribution to others increases as well. The ripple effect is heavy at work all the time. Invest in yourself, learn something new, apply it to your life, and impact the world!

The following is a list of just five way to invest in yourself. There are many more! As promised, here they are:

1. READ BOOKS

Books are amazing. They are literally packets of knowledge that you can leverage from others' YEARS of experience. No, you don't have to become an all-consuming book junkie in order to gain the massive value from the knowledge in them. Even reading just one book a year will change your life (although I recommend reading way more than just one book a year).

  • get a library card, rent your first book today for free!
  • visit a local thrift store and buy books for mega discounted prices (0.99-2.99 usually)
  • search a book title you like and add "free pdf" on google (you didn't hear this from me)
  • AUDIOBOOKS: https://www.audible.com/ (if you've never tried audible before, they offer a free audiobook download for your first - I downloaded Gary Vaynerchucks "The Thank You Economy" and then never used audible again (I just wanted my free audiobook)

2. Watch YouTube Videos on Life Topics you need support in

Similar to books, there are tons of people giving away tons of GOLD when it comes to knowledge on success and happiness. If you find yourself not the book reading or audiobook listening type, videos may be your best option. They're often more entertaining and provide a visual learning to help stick the points in your brain!

Here's a short list of YouTubers I've followed over years to help me grow!

  • Project Life Mastery: https://www.youtube.com/user/ProjectLifeMastery
    • This brand is run by a man named Stefan P.
    • He created a 7 figure online business in just three years.
    • He gives away a grip of free value
    • His tips and advice are akin to Tony Robbins type material
  • Elliott Hulse: https://www.youtube.com/user/strengthcamp
    • Elliott is a self-made health and fitness BEAST.
    • He's best known for his 5-10 minute video series called "Yo Elliott" in which he answers viewers questions in his personal way.
    • His approach to life is a combination of spiritual, physical, and philosophical.
    • Like I said, he is a god damned beast and I highly recommend his channel to young men.
  • Ralph Smart: https://www.youtube.com/user/Kemetprince1
    • If you're the spiritual type, then Ralph or Teal are your best bet.
    • Ralph is a life coach, counselor, therapist, all things help people person.
    • His videos are about law of attraction, love and relationships, and eating healthy!
  • Teal Swan: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheSpiritualCatalyst
    • Somewhat controversial, and open to interpretation, Teal claims to be a a master of the Law of Attraction.
    • The knowledge she spits can be very enlightening.
    • Some people may not enjoy her video styles, but you'll definitely gain value from at least one of her videos if you give it a chance.
  • Gary V: https://www.youtube.com/user/GaryVaynerchuk
    • Gary Vaynerchuck is quickly growing into the most popular Entrepreneur out there.
    • His "no BS" style of communication, backed by his massive level of integrity and action-based results, makes Gary V one of the BEST sources for free GOLD.
    • Unlike the other youtubers mentioned above, Gary V is on the BIG worldwide stage. People outside of YouTube worship and follow him - and so should you!
  • TEDx Talks: https://www.youtube.com/user/TEDxTalks
    • TED talks are the BEST
    • They are 10-30 minute presentations on various topics that most people can relate to
    • Anywhere from "how minimalism changed my life" to "the war on consciousness"
    • no explanation needed
    • Go learn from them NOW

3. Free Online Courses/WEBINARS

It's pretty common for online business to offer free courses/webinars to new members as a way to give them a taste of their catalog. Lucky for you, you can find tons of free courses like this without having to pay for the whole package. Just do a little googling, or even search on YouTube, and you'll find a free course eventually.

*note: you may have to exchange credit card information in order to receive a free trial. get used to doing this and then cancelling the subscription once you've received your free stuff (AND well before your free trial period is over)

4. Podcasts

Similar to the free courses, people are hosting free webinars and podcasts all the time. For podcasts, go to iTunes or search on YouTube. I don't even know if podcasts are a paid thing. Most of the ones I've ever listened to were free. I especially love these ones:

  • Tim Ferris: https://tim.blog/podcast/
    • Tim is a self made millionaire as well.
    • He widely known for his best-selling book "The Four Hour Workweek"
    • He often interviews super successful people and gets them to spit tons of free value for the listeners.
  • Joe Rogan: http://podcasts.joerogan.net/
    • Former Fear Factor host, current UFC color-commentator, stand-up comedian, and certified mushroom/psychedelic tripper, Joe Rogan's podcast is easily a top five podcast of all time.
    • A little different in vibe than the typical "how to" or "self help" resource, Joe Rogan's podcast is full of alternative knowledge. It is equally as next level as any other resource I've shared with you today!

5. Seek Mentorship!

I guarantee that you know at least one person who's life experience you can leverage. Whether it's your parents, cousin, coworker, college professor, or "this person I admire", seek someone to learn from and leverage their life experience.

Here's the thing about people: THEY LOVE TALKING ABOUT THEMSELVES AND SHARING THEIR OPINIONS.

Take advantage of this self-righteous human characteristic, and ask them to teach you everything they know! lol

There you have it folks! Be sure to stay tuned for an upcoming blog posts on the five resources that helped me become a BEAST!
